Since 2000, The Lundbeck Foundation has awarded the best work within brain research with the prestigious The Brain Prize. At the 2018 execution of The Brain Prize, Format was brought on the team to help elevate the award show and make it a ‘must-attend’ event for all target groups - scientists, politicians and businessmen. Instead of isolating the celebration of the prize winners to the announcement itself, we wanted to ensure a ‘celebration-curve’, where prize winners were celebrated from the minute they arrived and escalated slowly until they were called on stage. In order to achieve the expected level of celebration at all times, we designed the reception area with biographies of the winners to provide information about them to all guests as well as surrounding the entrance, for the winners to arrive directly into a celebratory crowd. Furthermore, we designed the stage with three areas from where the different parts of the show could run interchangeably and the visual identity of The Brain Prize. We designed the visual identity to make it stand out in the decoration and architecture, while taking the venue materials and architecture, The Black Diamond, into consideration. The objective was to take ownership of the venue and still honoring the beautiful surroundings. We were in charge of managing guest registration, visual identity, stage and venue design, coordination with the Black Diamond for the award show and d’Angleterre for the dinner, transportation, production as well as general coordination and planning.
